ADMISSION TO TOP-UP PROGRAMMES FOR
HND AND DIPLOMA CERTIFICATE HOLDERS FOR THE 2013/2014 ACADEMIC
YEAR
It is announced for the information of prospective applicants and
the general public that KNUST is offering a 5(Five) Semester
top-up programmes, in the Distance mode, leading to the award
of Bachelor of Science (BSc) degrees in the following programmes:

B.Sc. Geomatic Engineering
·
B.Sc. Agric Engineering
·
BSc. Business Administration
·
BSc. Mechanical Engineering
·
BSc. Computer Science
·
BSc. Statistics
·
BSc. Computer Engineering
·
BSc. Quantity Surveying & Construction
Economics
·
BSc. Construction Technology & Management
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
a. BSc. Geomatic
Engineering
Applicants must have an HND in Surveying with at least a
Second Class Lower Division or Diploma in Geodetic/Geomatic
Engineering or its equivalent,
b. BSc. Agric Engineering
Applicants must hold at least a Second Class Lower in HND
Agric Engineering or its equivalent Diploma certificate.
c. BSc. Business
Administration
Applicants must have at least Second Class Lower or its
equivalent in business- related areas, such as (Accounting,
Secretarial/Management, Purchasing and Supply) or Foundation II
of the Chartered Institute of Administration and Management
Consultants (CIAMC)
Concentration for the programme is in the following areas:
Human Resource Management
Accounting
Banking and Finance
Marketing
Hospitality Management
Logistics and Supply Chain Management
Candidates shall continue in the areas of specialization in their
respective programmes for the Top –ups.
d. BSc.
Computer Engineering
At least Second Class (Lower Division) or better in HND Computer
Engineering/Electrical and Electronic Engineering or
Telecommunication Engineering or an equivalent diploma
certificate.
e. BSc. Construction Technology and
Management(CTM)/Quantity Surveying and Construction Economics
(QSCE)
Applicants must have obtained second class (Lower Division) or
better in HND Building Technology or its equivalent diploma
certificate. A sound background in mathematics is required.
f. BSc. Mechanical
Engineering
HND with at least Second Class Lower division or its equivalent
diploma certificate in any of the following Mechanical
Engineering disciplines:
I.Production Engineering
II.Plant Engineering
III.Automobile Engineering
IV.Refrigeration and Air- Conditioning
V.Foundry Technology
g. BSc. Statistics
Applicants must hold at least Second Class Lower in HND
Statistics or its equivalent diploma certificate.
h. BSc. Computer Science
i. HND/Diploma Holders
Applicants with Higher National Diploma or Diploma or its
equivalent in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business
Information Technology, Computer Engineering, Electronics, Data
Processing, Information Systems/Sciences and any area related to
any of the listed programmes from an accredited Institution can
apply irrespective of age and work experience.
ii.University Degree Holders
Applicants with first degree in any Physical Sciences and
Engineering programme can apply. Candidates with ordinary pass
would be required to pass an entrance examination and attend oral
interview.
General Requirements for all Programmes
i. In addition to the above programme
specific requirements, applicants must have at least 5 (five)
credits in GCE “O” Level and at least 6 (six) credits in
SSSCE/WASSCE subjects in the relevant areas, including English
Language and Mathematics with an aggregate not exceeding 24.
HOW TO APPLY
Application forms can be obtained online:
a. E-vouchers at Banks.
Visit any of the following Banks to obtain an E-Voucher for
GH¢100.00(One Hundred Ghana Cedis) to Print your Form.
Ecobank, hfc Bank, Merchant Bank and Fidelity Bank
Applicants should follow carefully the instructions on the
voucher.
b. E-vouchers at IDL Learning Centres
E-vouchers may be purchased by bankers’ draft payable to the
Institute of Distance Learning from any of our learning
centres below:
